Materials & Care

We work with some of the most reputable jewelry suppliers across the Greater Toronto area to provide you with only the highest quality materials and pieces of jewelry.

With relationships lasting for over 30 years we can assure you our promise of both high-quality and affordable pieces will be fulfilled.

Solid Gold

solid gold

Our solid gold pieces were made to be worn every day, forever & more. Solid gold is the only metal that won't tarnish, oxidize or discolour. Meaning you can wear them in the shower, while you exercise and even at the beach.

When people refer to gold jewelry, they really mean solid gold materials. In its pure form, solid gold is 24 karats and is the softest and most gentle metal. In most cases, it's very rare to find jewelry pieces made of 100% pure gold.

Instead, other alloys are combined with gold in order to create the perfect combination of what we refer to as "solid gold." This combination includes both 18k, 14k and 10k solid gold.

When discussing gold materials, the karat indicates the parts of the piece that is pure gold in relation to other alloys.

A 10k gold piece of jewelry is 10 parts solid gold, 14 parts alloys. Whereas a 14k gold piece of jewelry is 14 parts solid gold, 10 parts alloys, and so on.

Solid Gold Care

Our solid gold jewelry pieces are water-proof, sweat-proof and everything-proof - they were made to be worn every day no matter what you do. Cleaning your gold jewelry at home is easy:

  1. Fill a shallow bowl with warm water
  2. Add a few drops of dish soap to the bowl and mix
  3. Place your piece(s) of jewelry in the bowl and set a timer for 5 minutes
  4. Mix periodically
  5. Take the jewelry out of the bowl and pat it dry on a clean towel

For extra shine, take an old tooth brush and gently scrub at the piece of jewelry or buff it with a clean towel. Don't forget to store your pieces in a safe, dry place when taking them off.

Sterling Silver

Our Sterling Silver pieces are plated in Rhodium, one of the most precious metals. Its plating allows these pieces to shine bright and be worn every day.

Sterling Silver is made up of 9.25% pure silver and 7.5% copper.

Sterling Silver Care

To prolong the lifespan of your 925 Sterling Silver pieces, we will always recommend to remove them before showering, exercising or washing your hands as well as when applying any lotions, perfumes or other moist products.

To clean lightly buff your pieces with a clean towel and store them somewhere dry when taking them off.

Gold Plated

gold plated

When a piece of jewelry is gold plated, this means that a base metal has been plated or dipped in a layer of solid gold.

Although these pieces may appear similar to solid gold jewelry, because it is only plated in gold materials, they are more susceptible to fading and revealing its natural metal colour.

While buying gold plated items is an affordable way to get the look of real gold, they do require more upkeep.

Gold Plated Care

To prolong the lifespan of your gold plated pieces, we will always recommend to remove them before showering, exercising or washing your hands as well as when applying any lotions, perfumes or other moist products.

To clean lightly buff your pieces with a clean towel and store them somewhere dry when taking them off.

Gold Vermeil

Gold vermeil is very similar to gold plating, but instead of dipping any metal in gold, we dip high-quality 925 sterling silver pieces in a thick layer of gold.

For this reason, gold vermeil is considered a premium version of gold plating because of its thicker layer of gold plating.

Gold Vermeil Care

While this is a more favourable option to gold plating, we still recommend removing your vermeil pieces before showering, exercising, washing your hands, or using any perfumes or lotions.

To clean lightly buff your pieces with a clean towel and store them somewhere dry when taking them off.

Cubic Zirconia

To clean your pieces that contain Cubic stones, follow the same care instructions for the material the rest of the piece is made from.

Pay extra attention to buffing the stone itself with warm water and a brush or cloth to remove excess dirt. Store them somewhere dry when taking them off.

A Message From The Dainty Team

As implied from our name, many of the pieces in our collection are extremely dainty and should always be handled with care. Please remember to:

  • Pay attention when removing clothing, hats, or towels from the shower as they can get caught on these items.

  • Avoid placing dainty necklaces in the same pouch or designated area as dainty chains may tangle.

  • Store your pieces in a safe pouch, bag, or jewelry box to avoid scratching.
